“I understand..” She nods, looking down at her lap, “My people can be quite.. vicious.. The king rules us.. his daughter along side her ever since his wife died under ‘uncertain circumstances’. He’s a tyrant, and was the only one happy about the outcome, good or bad, about this fighting.” Reaching into her satchel once more, she pulled out two apples, “Would you like one as well? I didn’t poison these as well, I promise.”
“‘Uncertain circumstances?’” he echoes incredulously. “What, did the prick kill her too?” It takes a moment, but his eyes widen as he realizes what he’s said. “I- I apologize. That was out of line. I do hope you’ll forgive me..” He smiles, though, at her offer, running one hand through his hair and taking an apple with the other. “Poisoned apples are the stuff of faerie tales. I do believe you’re of braver stuff, m’-” he cuts himself off. “… I don’t believe I ever caught your name.”
